Description

Known previously as the Karen Rush Band, the group is a collaboration of four diverse musicians from New York and New Jersey. Their collective dynamic evokes a mesmerizing energy currently being captured on a much-anticipated full-length debut, "Up For Air".

There is a duality of light and darkness inherent in the soul of EYSTONE, which gets channeled into their words and chords. Singer/songwriter Karen Rush pens lyrics with a poetic flair, weaving the introspective subject matter of her songs through acoustic pop progressions. Her material is deep and revealing, which resonates in the heart of the listener. Using her voice in a unconventional manner, she shifts on a breath from vulnerably angelic into a brazen belt rich with emotion. There is sheer moxie in her performance, and that raw energy is both enhanced and refined by the talents of EYSTONE's other members.

At first glance one might mistake bassist John Messenger for a skater punk since his charismtic personality and onstage antics can be misleading. Yet with classicallly trained chops and a MA in composition, his instrumental proficiency forms the root of each song's groove. His playing locks in with the 'stripped down' technique of drummer Pete Rizzo, completing EYSTONE's rhythm section. The final touch comes from lead guitarist and Texas native, Victor Munoz. Having cut his teeth back in the smokey roadhouses of the south, his atmospheric stylings lend the band their trademark ethereal, bluesy sound.

Since their incantation in 2001, EYSTONE has already performed in some of the tri-state area's favorite hot spots like NYC's Hard Rock Cafe, Arlene Grocery, and The C-Note; The Acoustic Cafe in Bridgeport, CT and The Saint and Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. They've been steadily building a solid following based upon the magnetic appeal of their showcases and radio-readiness of their songs. And now thanks to the production and engineering skills of Pete Rizzo and Victor Munoz, their self-produced debut is just about complete.
