Description

The influence of music is something that should never be underestimated. This is something that Finespun takes to heart each and every time they pick up their instruments. This New York based quartet is comprised of members Oren Barak (vocals, guitars), Shawn Johnston (guitars), Phil Pesiri (bass), and Ed Grazi (drums). They got together in 2000 and headed right into the studio to record and produce their self-titled debut CD which was released in April of 2001. This 10-song release combines Finespun's haunting melodies driven by catchy rock guitars to blend into an eagerly anticipated feast for the ears.

Not yet aware of eachother, the members of Finespun grew up on the same influences, ranging from jazz to soul to radio ready rock. Both Oren and Shawn are huge Jimi Hendrix fans, while bassist Phil and drummer Ed both spent time listening to the likes of John Bonham and Jaco Pastorius. It is this melting pot that gives Finespun its unique sound and listenability in a world of todays emerging music scene.

Throughout their recording, Finespun has landed itself on many internet radio stations through the distribution of fresh-out-of-the-studio MP3's as well as maintaining their own website (http://www.finespunmusic.com), where you can always listen to new clips of the band, watch them live in the studio and interact with the members through a simple click of the mouse. Finespun was chosen as one of the Top 50 bands in the U.S. by Coca-Cola for the American Music Awards New Music Award. Finespun believes in music for the masses and is in great support of other bands and artists that are trying to get a message across.

Finespun has appeared at clubs in NYC, such as Arlene's Grocery and the Elbow Room as well as landing themselves the opening spot for Gilby Clarke(formerly of Guns 'N Roses) at L'amour Rocks in Brooklyn,King's X, Hookah Brown (feat.Rich Robinson formerly of the Black Crowes at The Downtown in Farmingdale, N.Y. and The London Quireboys at The Continental in NYC. Their long-term goal is to gain a recording contract and distribution deal to further extend the reach of their music to anyone who has their ears open in this world or any other. With tracks like "Far Away", a ballad that talks about one entity doing anything for what they love, and "Sorry", a sarcastically written poke at relationships, this should not be a problem. Finespun is a band that should be recognized as a band for the people. They want you to be touched by their music and they feel that this is a goal that can be accomplished. The influence of music is something that should never be underestimated. This is something that Finespun takes to heart each and every time they pick up their instruments to play for you.

At this time, Finespun is currently gigging around the east coast while self-recording their second CD titled "Digging Yourself Deeper" to be released mid 2003.
