June 2001, a date that will mark a point in history where five souls began their journey to change the future of music. In a basement of Lynbrook NY, in early 2001 a promise was made between two friends to start a band and become something more than what they were and leave their mark on the world! The two friends, Wes and Alex, started planting the seeds of the future. Later on that year Alex took a back seat to the process for family reasons and Brian, a long time friend joined in the quest to find the missing pieces to a yet unknown project. With two guitars and vocals in place a solid rhythm section was in need, and Jim, a friend whose background leaned more toward funk and classic rock, started to jam periodically with Wes and Brian for song writing purposes. The completion of the original line-up was in late May early June of 2001 when Frank Walls signed on as bass player; with the line-up somewhat in tact minus a steady drummer Jim decided to join the band on a "lets see what happens" basis!
In early June, Savior, a song that would define the path of Killbox, was written and the rest as they say is history. A flurry of songwriting ensued and before Sept Killbox had completed 6 solid songs constructed for public consumption. The style was hard to categorize; bringing in elements of Death and Black metal (as is evident in Unchained Hate) and old school metal riffs (as in Alone) and melodic versus and choruses, blended with the metal and Hardcore styles of the present day. Fans and critics alike in their hometown scene, which was festering at the time, met Killbox favorably. Killbox played the local scene for a year building a scene with other bands that didn't fit in to any one category, Mad Circle, Guernica, Advocate, Randall Flagg and Kor-Lokt; in playing the shows with these bands Killbox learned a lot about themselves and began to polish their sound a bit more adding layers and increasing the affect of the subject matter and looking for ways to improve themselves. In mid 2002 Frank began to seem disjointed from the band and from the processes of the group, it became evident that a change would be necessary. At the time Killbox was going to continue with things the way they were, but word came that Guernica had seen its best days and was breaking up, in the aftermath of the break-up, Russ the former bass player of Guernica expressed a desire to play with Killbox. With the tension in the band rising the change was made bringing the current line-up into fruition.
The new addition to Killbox inspired the band and with new life the band expanded its song list. This time with even stronger results, Empty Dream a fan favorite, and other great titles including Vow, My conflictions, Awakening and Hollow have grabbed the attention of promoters, major labels, and booking agents all over the world. With Killbox at full force and with strong promoter support the path of Killbox is clear, "World Domination', embrace the music you love, embrace your lack of faith, and welcome to the future.
